Important News for Competitors

As a result of a recent decision by the MSA, the BTRDA Rally Series and BTRDA Rally Series event organisers, including the Somerset Stages, have been informed that with immediate effect the MSA will not grant a waiver to amend R24.1.4 as they have done in previous years.

The effect is that ALL forest stage rallies will run with a single field, seeded in order of anticipated performance, with the potentially fastest car running first on the road. In order to comply with this instruction we will need to make a number of amendments to the wording of the Event Regulations and these will be included in the Final Instructions.

In addition to this, with received entries currently standing in excess of 140 (our maximum entry is 150) we would like to remind any competitors who have not yet paid that they need to do so as soon as possible to secure their entry.

Press Release – Somerset Stages returns to Minehead

Press Release – Immediate.

Somerset Stages returns to Minehead.

Minehead Vision Manager Stephen Hooper announced this week that the Somerset Stages rally is

returning to the town and will be given centre stage. The 2015 event is to run from the YMCA

Beach Hotel, the station and seafront carparks. The rally takes place on the 18th April and

competitors and competing cars arrive in Minehead on the 17th April to be scrutineered and

prepared for the rally on the following day. It is planned to have a ceremonial start in Minehead on

the Friday evening. The event will be celebrating its 35th year with teams from across the UK and

overseas visiting West Somerset to compete on 10 Special Stages in the forests on Exmoor and

two stages on the Porlock Toll Road.

YMCA Beach Hotel Manager Dave Jackson said ” Historically the rally was always based at the

Beach Hotel and we are very excited to have got them back here. It will be an exciting event for the

town and we hope it will bring in lots of visitors”

Stephen Hooper added ” Somerset County Council have been very supportive in allowing us to

use the Station Carpark and this is a great example of accommodation providers proactively

creating overnight stays. The Minehead Events Group are working with the Rally Organisers to

ensure the two days are a new highlight in the towns calendar. This will be a big boost to the towns

economy during an off peak period.”

Somerset Stages Organiser Howard West said ” We will do everything we can to make sure that

event is enjoyed by the people of Minehead and that many weekend visitors will fill all the hotels

and guest houses in the surrounding area.”
